Water Filtration Systems

Water Filtration Systems

Water is essential for all things in our everyday lives from cooking and bathing to the water that we drink as well as being used in different sectors from manufacturing and agriculture to industrial applications.

However, water can hold many different types of contaminants and impurities including things like sediment, bacteria, lead, chlorine and hardness which can negatively affect the way that it tastes, smells and how it can be used. Some of these contaminants are solid particles that require physical water filtration; however, others are dissolved in the water and require a different type of filtration.

At Lubron, we provide a wide range of water filtration systems for a variety of applications, delivering bespoke, innovative and efficient solutions to ensure that your water is of the highest quality.

Physical Water Filtration

We all expect our water to be a clear colour and free from particles and debris. However, some sources of water contain sand, dirt or other fairly large size particles which must be removed to prevent damage to more delicate equipment further down the system.

Physical Filtration is used to remove these particles, and usually consists of some form of mesh that acts as a sieve. Examples of this type can include disk filters, back-washable candle filters or sand filters.

Suspended Solids

Any particles that don’t settle and remain in suspension in water when left to stand are known as ‘suspended solids’. These can be either organic or inorganic particles and generally comprise of things such as silt, clay, sand, gravel and algae which are larger than 2 microns (the average filter size).

These can be used as an indicator of water quality, with the amount of suspended solids impacting how cloudy the water is. High levels of suspended solids in water can be extremely detrimental for a variety of applications and can cause;

  • Health issues such as gastrointestinal problems
  • Elevated water temperatures and lower oxygen levels which can harm aquatic life
  • Negatively impacts ultraviolet disinfection requiring more intense levels resulting in higher energy usage and costs
  • Reduces the quality of the water
  • Limits plant growth
  • Can have a harmful effect on the ecological system

It is therefore necessary to use a different type of filter to remove these solids, which is why we supply a wide range of water filtration systems that can be used to remove suspended solids and improve the quality of water.

How do I remove Chlorine from Water

Use Granular Activated Carbon Filter or dose Sodium Bisulphate

How do i remove Iron and Manganese from Borehole water

Use air to Oxidise the Iron and Manganese, then remove using a sand filter.
