Quality water for quality glass Water is intimately involved in every aspect of glazing manufacture – from the preparation of the basic raw materials to the rinsing and washing of the finished products. In Sealed Unit manufacturing the prime role is for demineralised high quality wash water both prior and post assembly, as well as for lubricating the grinding process and carrying away the glass fines.Although the coatings on Low Emissivity glass are relatively durable in most circumstances, as a high value material it is prudent to ensure that it does not come into contact with chlorine or other dissolved constituents which may be in the local water supply. Also, the presence of these minerals, when dried on, can lead to unsightly deposits on the surfaces of completed units. Better quality water results in higher quality products with savings due to lower reject rates or process intervention and interruption. Throughout the glazing factory there are opportunities to recycle the water used at the various stages. This reduces overall water consumption and minimises any disposal issues with the process waste. For many years Lubron has worked with equipment manufacturers and supplies to develop a detailed understanding of the water requirements and have developed a range of compact pre-engineered modular systems which provide water efficiently and economically from the local mains supply. The use of the latest membrane based techniques has eliminated the need for on site acid and caustic regenerant chemicals and their inherent safety and storage problems.
Lubron’s new Sprinker
Arrissing machines produce waste water which contains fine glass particles. When discharged these particles can block drains resulting in extra maintenance and/or replacement. The Sprinker is a proven self-contained unit which separates the fines to produce a harmless ‘sludge’ for easy disposal. The treated water can then be safely re-used or put to drain.
Optimising performance Understanding the needs and requirements for sealed unit manufacturing is just the start for Lubron. Our dedication to getting it right embraces all aspects of design, manufacturing and installation, all to the requirements of our ISO 9001 2000 accreditation.
